My Blue Thumb - Book 1
My Blue Thumb - Book 1
I am a boy mom. I have a blue thumb, I can not grow beautiful flowers, my garden is dead, but my heart is full with pride of the four outstanding men I created. My parenting may be unconventional at times, but more often than not, it worked. I hope that our stories can bring some light to others, and hopefully some laughter too.
Don't call C.P.S., instead consider this a helpful guide for my children’s future therapists. I am not Doctor Spock or Doctor Phil. My qualifications are none, by book smart definitions. No neatly framed degree adorns my walls. I am a taxi mom by definition. I am the Ringleader of a circus as complicated and complex as a Cirque Du Soleil production. I am merely a mom.
By life experiences, I am lucky enough to be the always proud mom; of four of the best mannered, well rounded, funny, respectful, affectionate, thoughtful, caring, strong, loving and independent men I could hope for. The road we are on did not always seem to be leading anywhere at all, but it was well worth all of the detours and uneven terrain, because we made it out alive, and most importantly, together.
These stories are for anyone struggling through parenting. Anyone who needs a little comfort in knowing others have traveled the road of never ending love; yet balancing on the brink of what seems inevitable detonation. You are not alone. Your frustrations, your confusion and uncertainty will all pass, and when they do, your children’s jelly stained smiling faces will be staring back at you, either in flesh in front of you, or as a distant memory of the times you have moved beyond, but in the end, what more could you ask for?
I hope you enjoy our journey, and most importantly I hope you see the love we all share for each other. My boys are as different as North, East, South and West, but they are all equally centered in one word, Family. We all show up and we all support each other, despite our different interests, we understand this word and we live in the belief that together we can accomplish anything.
I'd like to take credit for this bond, but in reality it is likely the doing of my parents. My dad having come from a challenging childhood, created a strong family of his own, and through his hard work and passion for creating a better life for his family, his legacy has moved forward to my sons. My mom is an amazing mom and Grandma, giving endlessly of her time, stories and love. I was lucky enough to call them my parents.
These stories, and this website are dedicated in memory of my dad, who taught me there are no limits to what I can accomplish, and to my mom, the most amazing mom I could hope for and the best Grandma my kids could ever have.
